Nigeria name final squad for U23 AFCON

Imama targets CHAN Eagles sensational comeback against Togo

Nigeria today named a final squad for the 2019 U23 AFCON, dominated by overseas-based profeesionals led by the likes of skipper Okechukwu Azubuike, Kelechi Nwakali and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Valentine Uzornwafor (Spain), Sincere Seth (Turkey), Orji Okwonkwo (Italy), Muyiwa Olabiran (Russia), Anthony Izuchukwu (Norway) and Tom Dele-Bashiru (England) also made the cut.

The home-based stars include Nasarawa United striker Sunusi Ibrahim, goalkeepers Adamu Abubakar (Wikki Tourists) and Mohammed Galadima (Nasarawa United) as well as Olisa Ndah (Remo Stars)

The U23 AFCON kicks off November 8 in Egypt and the main squad departed from Abuja today, while several of the overseas pros will fly directly to Cairo from their bases.

Nigeria will open their campaign on November 9 against Cote d’Ivoire.

South Africa and Zambia are the other teams in their first round group.
