FAZ confirms Super League season will be completed

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) have confirmed that the remaining matches in the 2019/20 Super League season will be completed when it is safe to do so.

Mauritius have already abandoned their championship due to the coronavirus outbreak, but FAZ told reporters on Wednesday that there was no intention to do likewise in the Super League.

Instead, the remaining 10 rounds of matches will be staged in what was shaping up to be one of the most exciting finishes to a Super League season in many a while.

There are still six sides with a genuine chance of claiming the trophy, with only three points separating the top four sides.

The teams that may be hopeful of an annulment of the campaign are those at the bottom, with Nakambala Leopards, Mufulira Wanderers and Kabwe YSA all seemingly headed for the drop having been cut adrift from the rest.

The last matches in the Super League were played on March 8, with no return date yet scheduled, though FAZ continue to monitor the situation.
