Anderson Lucoqui included in Angola squad for two friendlies

Angola have included Bundesliga defender Anderson Lucoqui in their squad for the first time as they head to Portugal for two friendlies next week.

The 23-year-old has previously represented Germany at under-20 level but was called up by Angola, where his parents hail from, after playing both games of the new German season for the newly-promoted side.

The 21-year-old Ernest Panzu, who is in the reserves at Hertha Berlin, is another ex-German youth international with Angolan roots who has been called up by coach Pedro Gonçalves.

Angola are to play friendlies against Lusophone rivals Guinea Bissau and Mozambique in Rio Maior on 11 and 13 October.

There are also first call ups for Portugal-born centre back Inácio Miguel, who plays at Universitatea Cluj in Romania’s second division, and Jonas Ramalho, who has played for Spain at junior level. He has a Basque mother and Angolan father.

French-born Jeremie Bela, now in his second season at Birmingham City, has also been named for the two matches.
